CBEME wins Sub-Contractor of the Year
Cleveland Bridge & Engineering Middle East was named Sub-Contractor of the Year at the 2011 Construction Week Awards. The winners were announced at a gala awards banquet held at the Westin in Dubai last night.
Cleveland Bridge’s project portfolio over the past 12 months includes structural steelwork for Zayed University, the St. Regis Resort Banquet Hall, the Football and Tennis Court Structure for the E.O.’s Office, Dubai and the Masdar City Project 1, Phase C.
The judges were impressed by the winner’s involvement in a range of projects, and its technical and engineering excellence, which even enabled it to suggest design detail changes to enhance construct ability and reduce lead times.
“It’s great to be recognised by a panel of peers, and it’s fantastic that they understand the challenges that we’ve been faced with and have met,” said Michael Mack, managing director for Cleveland Bridge and Engineering, ME.
“We have a great team of people, and we’ve been in the region for 36 years. I think the fact that we’re all expats helps: everyone works as a team – which goes some way towards explaining our longevity. The order book is increasing, which is a great sign for the company,” he added.
Drake & Scull International was highly commended “as one of the few sub-contractors across the Middle East which has been able to deliver world-class project in times of recession.”
